Question 1
A bag contains 4 red marbles, 3 blue marbles and 5 green marbles. A marble is drawn at random. What is the probability it is blue?
Show worked solution
Total marbles = 4 + 3 + 5 = 12. P(blue) = 3/12 = 1/4.
Question 2
Five students score 6, 8, 7, 9 and 5 on a quiz. Find the mean and the range of these scores.
Show worked solution
Mean = (6 + 8 + 7 + 9 + 5) ÷ 5 = 35 ÷ 5 = 7. Range = highest − lowest = 9 − 5 = 4.
